CAROLINE JACKSON
I began my career as a reporter, studying journalism at NYU and working with Complex, Esquire, The Brooklyn Rail and The Villager. While completing my degree, I also worked as a visual merchandiser and began styling fashion editorial shoots.
After completing my degree in 2008, I relocated to Richmond, Virginia, where I built a local news department for WRIR LP-FM. To increse the reach and impact of my team’s work, I embraced social media and blogging and we began creating dynamic video and visual content to accompany our stories. In this moment where traditional media was beginning to be overlooked and undervalued, we found a way to amplify the reach of our audio stories by expanding to new platforms.
In 2011, I moved to Tucson, Arizona where I was hired by a web development company (BRINK Media) as the editor for their mobile travel app. I was often pulled into website projects, working alongside designers and programmers in a strategic and project management capacity. I found the skills I had cultivated working at magazines and radio were needed by many of BRINK’s clients who previously thought having a website alone would solve their marketing issues. But they needed high-quality content and a plan for getting their message to their ideal audience. So, we built a digital marketing department.
Soon I was creating marketing campaigns for film (like Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers), the City of Tucson, MOCA Tucson, Discovery Education, Vantage West Credit Union, Nicolas Jurnjack, Agustin Kitchen, El Guero Canelo and a bunch more. We even won the contract to program the local public access channel, teach and provide equipment to local content creators and build a digital platform to showcase their work. As part of that project, I had the opportunity to produce, direct and promote a daily live local news show, while helping to define the mission of this amazing community resource.
In 2016, I decided to strike out on my own and focus my business on women-owned and women-focused businesses - building brands, creating content and growing businesses holistically. And I have been so lucky to work with clients that closely align with my interests and ethics.
